About UI Battle of the Bands

This year you the students can make the Week of Welcome your own in the First Annual UI Battle of the Bands. The UI Battle of the Bands is a free competition between local bands with the winner gaining the opportunity to be the opening act for Homecoming concert put on by SCOPE productions.

Each band will play a 30 minute mini-show. There will DJs between groups for non-stop performing, and food available so you don’t miss a beat. Our goal is to have 10 bands compete. So if you or your friends are in a band, or you have a favorite local band, get them signed up for some free stage time! Our goal is 400 people to attend so bring a friend and enjoy the hottest free concert in Iowa City. A decibel meter will be used to gage audience response to each band, and the highest decibel registry wins.

So it is all about the fans the devotion of your fans! The top three bands from the initial 10 will compete at the end of the event for all the glory. It is up to you who advances to the top three, so make sure you show up and support who you want to see play ay Homecoming!
